New Life Food Banks Joseph's Storehouse
Second harvesting, gleaning, and salvage recovery of food supplies for the less fortunate, children, and the elderly.
Joseph's Storehouse, a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization, is the distribution part of our food program which distributes food to nonprofit and church organizations nationally that meet a need. Leon Goad has been instrumental in food banks since 1980. The program founded in 1980 was Faith Evangelistic Food Bank. From 1986 to the early 1990's the ministry operated New Life Crisis Program. In the early 1990's until June of 2003 Sonrise Food Bank was operated to serve nonprofit organizations in five counties: Grayson, Carroll, Wythe, Bland, and Pulaski. Because these restrictions limited those who could receive food to certain areas, the ministry again re-organized and the name of the food program was changed from Sonrise to Joseph's Storehouse. It was named as such to fulfill a quickened Word that the Lord had spoken to Leon Goad that he would be a Joseph to God's people. Joseph's Storehouse has no county or state barriers. It works hand in hand with our international program, Operation Help, which is the benevolence part of the ministry. Organizations receiving food from the food ministry included: children’s homes, homes for the disadvantaged, social service and civic organizations, soup kitchens, churches with food banks, and others. Joseph's Storehouse is housed with its general operation and headquarters in a 50,000 square foot building, which was formerly the Bassett Walker Plant.
Operation Help
Operation Help Food Bank Program: a 501 (C)(3) Nonprofit Organization Feeding the Hungry
Operation Help Food Bank program, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the benevolence arm of the food bank ministry. Operation Help directly feeds individuals who are in need, providing food to the hungry in areas that are devastated by natural or economic disasters such as areas affected by floods and hurricanes. It also reaches out to areas where large plant closings and lay-offs have devastated communities. Operation Help operates resource centers, direct feeding programs and provides food in disaster areas. This division is not only national but also international. The ministry has addressed the needs of Romania where Operation Help worked with pastors and churches there. It has also been instrumental in sending clothing to missionaries in other countries. The program is funded as our benevolence program by New Life Church and Ministries and by donated funds. This program also functions from the central offices in Hillsville, VA.
