Ways to Give

• Charitable Gift Annuity-These are lifetime contracts between donors and charities.  The donor gives a specific amount of the charity and, in exchange, receives a set amount of income throughout his/her lifetime.  The income payments can begin no or be deferred until a future date, such as during retirement.  By funding a gift annuity, the donor can claim a current-year charitable income-tax deduction based on the actuarial value of the charity's interest in the gift to the charitable gift annuity.

• Charity Remainder Trust-Is an irrevocable trust that is designed to convert highly appreciated assets into a lifetime income stream without generating estate and capital gains taxes.  For details contact the ministry.  By establishing a CRT you can do the following and maximize your families benefits:

                1. Eliminate immediate capital gains taxes.                                           

                2. Reduce estate taxes of up to 50% that your heirs pay and reduce current income taxes.

                3.  Increase spendable income in your lifetime and receive benefits of tax free compounding..  

                4.  Make a significant future charitable gift and avoid probate. 

• Pooled Income Fund-These are trusts that allow for the pooling of contributions from several donors to benefit both the charity and the individuals concerned.  Donors receive a proportionate share of trust earnings each year for life.  By funding a Pooled Income Fund, the donor can claim a current-year charitable income-tax deduction based on the actuarial value of the charity's interest in the gift to the fund.

• Endowment Funds, such as Donor-Advised Funds at Community Foundations and other charitable organizations, are accounts that remove assets from the donor's taxable estate.  These funds enable you to use the resources and expertise of a specific charitable organization.  By contributing assets to such a fund, the donor can claim a current-year charitable income-tax deduction.

• Donations In Memory or In Honor of Someone-What more special way can you those you love be remembered than in their honor a service was done for those in need.  If you wish to give a donation in honor or in memory of a special person, we will send a card to inform the individual or family of your gift. 

  Matching Gifts. Ask your personnel director if your company has a matching gifts program.  This can actually double what amount you contribute.
